TEMPORARY Soldier Beam & Tie-Back

Reliable stability during construction phases

Temporary soldier beam and tie-back systems provide robust excavation support during construction. These systems can be designed for removal or abandonment in place once permanent construction is complete.

WHERE IT WORKS BEST

KEY BENEFITS

  • Building construction excavations

  • Underground parking construction

  • Utility vault construction

  • Bridge abutment excavations

  • Rapid installation

  • Excellent deformation control

  • Reusable components possible

  • Proven reliability

EXAMPLES

The La Brea Station dig, part of the LA Metro expansion project engineered by PB&A

LA Metro Westside Purple Line Extension
LOS ANGELES, CA

PB&A served as Engineer of Record (EOR) for the temporary Support of Excavation for four underground stations comprising the Purple Line Extension. This high-speed rail alternative connects commuters traveling between downtown Los Angeles, the Miracle Mile, Beverly Hills, and Westwood. The design was complicated by the requirement to keep Wilshire Blvd. open as a live thoroughfare over the excavations. PB&A designed concrete decking panels to maintain vehicular and pedestrian traffic while excavation took place beneath.
